Ore delivery from a Mining Company

Creating a logistics chain for exporting products to China, Yekaterinburg Oblast and Primorsky Krai.

Client

A large ore mining and processing plant located in a remote district of Zabaykalsky Krai and launched into commercial operation several years ago.

Project Objective

Ore delivery from the Ore Mining plant to China, to a metallurgical factory in Yekaterinburgskaya Oblast and to the port of Nakhodka (Primorsky Krai).

As the plant had only just been commissioned when the work had started, GEFCO Russia faced the challenge of creating a logistics chain from scratch within a short timeframe.

Solution

In this project, GEFCO Russia acted as an outsourced logistics service provider. The project team included representatives in Moscow, Zabaykalsky Krai and Manchuria.

The GEFCO Russia's team developed a route from the company’s adjacent railway station to the border crossing to China, to Yekaterinburgskaya oblast and to the port of Nakhodka. The solution was developed in coordination with regional railroads and Chinese partners.

GEFCO Russia also provided the rolling stock (gondola wagons) and all necessary related services for documentation and wagon fleet management (maintenance, repair, placement, removal, etc.).

Result

GEFCO Russia developed and implemented a logistics solution that fully met the client’s needs for export of the plant’s products, while respecting transit times and keeping the stakeholders informed at every stage of transportation.

The total volume of transportation during the project amounted to more than 1.5 million tons of ore.
