GEFCO Russia Will Label Tires

22 December 2020

GEFCO Russia began testing the Chestny ZNAK (‘Fair Mark’) labeling service as part of the provision of services for the transportation of big tires for one of the largest coal and energy companies in the world.

Chestny ZNAK is a mandatory product labeling system designed to protect consumer rights. The list of goods for mandatory labeling also includes car tires. From November 1, 2020, a ban was introduced on the production and import of unmarked tires, as well as their sale by the companies that work directly with manufacturers and importers. Applying digital marking allows you to get all the information about a product: the name of the manufacturer, place, date and time of production or sale, article, standard number. The data is stored in the state information system. Labeling reduces the spread of all types of illegal products.

Together with the client, GEFCO Russia decided to test this service in advance. To carry out the procedure, containers with big tires will be moved from the seaport to the customs warehouse in the customs transit mode. Then the goods will be placed first under the customs procedure of the warehouse for the purpose of labeling, and then under the customs procedure for release for domestic consumption and sent to the recipient's address.

The ability to test the service in advance is a great chance to check how the processes work and make any necessary improvements.

Alexander Kovalenko

Director of customs activities of GEFCO Russia

“By launching the labeling process in accordance with the requirements of Russian legislation, we thereby guarantee the end consumer the authenticity and declared quality of the purchased products. The ability to test the service in advance is a great chance to check how the processes work and make any necessary improvements. In the future, we will put this process “on stream”, increasing the efficiency of our cooperation in this direction”, said Alexander Kovalenko, Director of customs activities of GEFCO Russia.
