GEFCO Russia Transports Fourth Talgo Train from Spain

For more than seven years, GEFCO Russia has been cooperating with Talgo, delivering supplies from Spain to Uzbekistan via Russia.

GEFCO Russia, a recognized multimodal supply chain expert and a leading provider of automotive logistics in Russia, delivered a fourth train for Talgo, the leading Spanish manufacturer of high-speed trains, in September 2021. For more than seven years, GEFCO Russia has been cooperating with Talgo, delivering supplies from Spain to Uzbekistan via Russia.

In July, GEFCO Russia and its Spanish partners arranged the shipment of this latest Talgo high-speed train consisting of 15 carriages and 2 locomotives, for Uzbekistan Railways. GEFCO Russia provided a complete 3PL logistics solution for the rolling stock with an extended list of services required to move the products across the whole supply chain by sea, road and rail. The cargo was delivered on flatbed trailers from the Talgo plant in Ribavellosa (near Vitoria)to the Port of Bilbao. The operational team in Spain arranged loading on a roll-on/roll-off ferry, and the train was delivered by sea to the Port of Saint-Petersburg. There, GEFCO Russia unloaded the train from with the help of two Liebherr tandem cranes. The sea freight from Saint-Petersburg took 8 days, and handling operations, including stock joining, took 2.5 days. After installation, the train was sent by rail through Russia and Kazakhstan and delivered to the customer in Uzbekistan.

Rail transportation of the train from the station New port (Russia) to the station Utraaul (Uzbekistan) was carried out by JSC Russian Railways Logistics. This company also provided locomotives for transportation and carried out rail delivery in accordance with the safety requirements.

Since the beginning of its cooperation with Talgo, GEFCO Russia has transported about 10 trains from Bilbao to Moscow and Saint-Petersburg. Four of these have been delivered to Talgo’s customer in Uzbekistan.
